Shaun Johnston (born September 9, 1958 in Ponoka, Alberta) is a Canadian movie and theatre actor. He co-founded the Shadow Theatre in Edmonton and made his first professional forays in Alberta's thriving theatre scene.
Johnston grew up on a farm in Ponoka, Alberta, between Red Deer and Edmonton . He first started playing basketball, then graduated from Red Deer College , and later worked at a sub department of the Treasury Department in Alberta. Since he wanted to make a career as a fashion photographer in the beginning , he moved to Toronto . He could not reach his destination. Instead, he became a model . Influenced by this experience, after several years of interest in acting, he returned to Alberta to study at the Red Deer College Theater. Finally he got oneBFA in the theater program of the University of Alberta .
After graduation, he participated in the founding of the Shadow Theater and took his first actions within the theater scene in Alberta. His first important debut as an actor in film and television he made in the comedy Two Brothers, a Girl and a Gun (1993). For the role he got an Alberta Film & Television Award for Best Actor. Since then, he has been involved in many films and television programs, including The X-Files of the FBI (1995), Lonesome Dove: The Outlaw Years (1995), North of 60 (1997), The Dinosaur Hunter (2000), and several episodes of Outer Limits - The unknown dimension(1995-2002). He has also appeared in each episode of Smallville (2004), Supervulkan(2005) and Maythorpe . Finally, he has taken on one of the main roles in the series Heartland , a television series by the CBC .
Over the years as a film actor, Shaun Johnston has nonetheless continued to give up his interest in the theater and continues to be involved in the Shadow Theater . In 2012 he played the lead role in Fool for Love , which was produced by his theater company, which is also in Calgary in Sage Theater has been published.
